Mommy Knows Nothing

I'm no expert. Just trying to do better today than I did yesterday.

I got schooled.

(Here he is sporting two pairs of Kooyman's pants...at the same time. )
So it's true. In my world....it is true. There are never as many photos of the second child as there are of the first child. Poor Peyton. I've let the camera sit on the shelf collecting dust. I am trying to get back to my scrapbooking and when I looked at my pictures...there are very few from this year. So all in all, Peyton's first two years of his scrapbook will be very short.
He's 20 months old at the end of this month. He freaks out over shoes and keys. (and trying on Kooyman's clothes apparently) I had a "mommy moment" on Monday. Similar to a "senior moment" 'cept you blame having kids instead of old age for stupid things you do. We were outside and I let Peyton play with my keys. He walks around the cars and tries to unlock the car doors. He walked through the flower bed and I noticed he no longer had them. I wasn't worried. I was sure they were in a car door somewhere.
When Matt got home he immediately started cleaning out the garage. (Be still my heart!) Peyton went off to "help" and I went to shower because I had to be to work in an hour. I was all ready to go and left not a minute to spare because it's my philosophy to not be more than 30 seconds early for work. Then I remembered the whole "keys incident." I looked in the cars, around the cars, around the yard. Nothing. So I called my manager to meet me at work to unlock the door, borrowed Matt's key to the Saturn, and off to work I went.
Matt continued to clean the garage. It took him all afternoon. Which I have to hand it to him, I thought it would have take him a week. (It was really bad) After standing and admiring his hard work, imagining all the puttering he'd be able to do now that his garage was functional again, he pulled the garage door down. And lo and behold, there are my keys in the garage door handle. He sent me a picture. I laughed and remembered watching him trying to put them in the lock. I guess he got it finally. Peyton totally schooled me.

Reminds me of the time we were at my mom's and Preston wanted to get his toy out of the car. We gave him the keys and didn't think anything of it. He came back with the toy and no keys. Yep, locked them in the car. It was quite the event breaking into the car, but Dad managed to help Greg do it. Hooray for mommy moments.

Well? Where's the picture your husband sent you? Man that's so funny. Kids + Keys = Disaster. No doubt about it. We have SO many pictures and videos of Afton, I don't see how any future child could possibly top it. In fact, I hope they don't! It's getting very hard to manage!

He's gotten so big! I lost my keys once (okay, a lot but THIS time) couldn't find them anywhere. After HOURS of looking, I had to call a tow truck to come and haul my vehicle to the dealership to get new keys made. Right before the tow truck got to our house, I found them! There was a hole in the drywall in the hallway from a piece of furniture being knocked into the wall. My 2 year old son had been stuffing that hole full of all kinds of things- forks, toy cars and my keys! We patched the hole soon afterwards!
