America the Beautful

I'm starting to really love the Fourth of July. It's awesome because it's a holiday we share with our family, our friends, and our community. Our day was jam packed. And since I know you want a play by play. Here it is:

Our day started with a pancake breakfast at our neighbors house. It was good. Especially the chocolate milk part. It's been a while since I've indulged in chocolate milk and it was good.

Then it was off to the Sandy City Celebration down on the promenade.

Kooy and his BFF, Derek, got to experience a "Day in the Life of a Cop." They wore the uniform, got in their squad car, got a call about a bad guy, and chased him down. For their heroic efforts they were awarded official police (sticker) badges.

The kids got their faces painted, got free sno-cones, rode a train, and made high-quality, you'd never even think about throwing away, craft projects.

Kooy tried his hand...or should I say, tried his feet at the rock wall. And take it from one whose tried it and knows, Kooy does not recommend the spread eagle technique. Won't get you too far.

We hosted a great BBQ in our backyard with our friends and family.

Then we walked over to Jordan High for the fireworks. It was such a beautiful evening. It was perfect temperature, the sky was clear, you could see all across the valley, a beautiful sunset, and we were surrounded by our family and closest friends. I was sitting in my chair just watching all my peeps and their peeps (our group was about 50 strong). It was beautiful. The spacious sky, the purple mountain majesties, the sunset, two Temples of the Lord, everything about it was perfect. I got all emotional. Fourth of July is awesome. This years was almost perfect. (Matt had to work til two)

I love my family. I love my friends. I love where I live. I love my neighbors. I love my country. And Fourth of July celebrates all of this. Yep...it's definitely my favorite.

Looks like a great time! And might I say that YOU are lookin' skinny! I have no idea how much you've lost but your face in the last shot is thinner than last I saw you. Whatever you're doing is clearly working! Woot Woo!
