Kudos to my Kooy boy. He's been in Karate since April and this last Saturday advanced to his Dragon belt. He knew the moves and blocks he'd have to demonstrate. He does them perfectly in class. But come Belt Test day....he got sooooo nervous. He had to go to the Midvale dojo and a different master tested him. He almost didn't do it. I was scared for him. All alone up there, in front of a bunch of people. Half of them he knew, the other half strangers. I don't blame him for being freaked.
But he DID IT!! We are so proud of him. He got to have his gi imbroidered with his name and the school's patch. His eyes lite up so big when he saw it.
Doin' some blocks.
Knocked him down with a Front Push moves. ;)
Kicks
Getting his new Dragon Belt.
This is his teacher. Or Master. Or Sensei. or something. Matt probably knows. The kids call him Mr. K. And I think he wears flip flops a lot. This summer, alot of times he's the only one in class. And he thrives on that one on one attention. It boosts his confidence. I'm glad we got him in.
He invited his Grandma and Grandpa Curtis and his Turnbow cousins to come watch. I think having them there helped his confidence too. After, we went to Arctic Circle to celebrate.
Way to go Kooyman!!
