Tu-early for Tu-lips

My uber talented nephew was performing at on the first day of the Tulip Festival. I've always wanted to go see the Tulip Festival and since his performing group was there it gave me good reason to go.

Note to Self: Do not go to the Tulip Festival expecting to see Tulips when the two days prior they were covered in snow.

We did see lots of Daffodils though. They are my favorite. Ever since I was given some as a "handout" ( I guess you could say) at a Board Meeting. We were all new to our callings and our fearless leader (you know who you are...and Thank you so much!) gave them to us to plant in our flower beds (it was Octoberish). Then in the spring they would grow and bloom. I planted four bulbs that fall. They were to symbolize how much we would grow and learn from our new callings. The first year I only got three flowers and the fourth only came up greenery. This year I had nine flowers. So now every spring when my daffodils come up I think about where I was and where I am now. When I planted these bulbs it was just Matt and I. I'm a mother now and there are four of us. I consider that my current calling where I will grow and learn and hopefully bloom as beautiful as my Daffodils every spring. Wow...I didn't mean to go off like that. I just really like my Daffodils. They symbolize a lot to me. That's all I'm trying to say. :o)

Tulip Festival: So after watching Gatlin and all is talented-ness, we walked the grounds. It was a little cold, and a little windy, but we just spent 26 bucks! to get in and we were going to make it worth it.

A selection of flowers that were in bloom.

One of a few times we used the timer on the camera. :o)

Here's what Peyton did the whole time.

So in conclusion, I imagined the gardens as if the tulips were bloomed. I imagined they were beautiful. I did not have to imagine Gatlin's performance. That was great and really the thing that got us there in the first place. We ate dinner at JCW's. Had an awesome peanut butter shake and came home. It was a great day out with family.

Ah man! I'm sorry you missed the big show. We went yesterday evening and everything was bloomed out and gorgeous.

The secret to not having to pay as much is to go with someone (like my sister Jen) who has a season pass. A season pass for one person is like $35 and then EVERYONE in the group with that person gets in for 1/2 price. It only cost me $14 to get me and my 3 kids in.

I think they should offer some sort of 'bounce back' pass that enables people who paid full price to come back within a month window and pay 1/2 price. I'm sure Megan will post some photos of our day on her blog- my camera wasn't working well.

It LOOKS like you had a lot of fun (see my newest blog post!) That place really is amazing. Glad you guys had fun! And it looks like Peyton did the exact same thing Afton did when we were there! (well, she complained about the wind, too.)

I still have my daffodils, too. And I think of that same board meeting and the sweet and inspired leader that gave them to us. I've waited every spring for them and look back on who I've become...I think I'm doing better now than I was then.

Thanks for the new blog item. Sure wish I could have seen Gatlin perform. The flowers were lovely especially the ones with you and Kooy in them. Remember when we did your bridal pictures there. Everyone is looking good as ever. Cute cute Peyton! Love ya SKW

I remember doing your bridals there too. Everyone kept looking at you in your dress, and it made you mad! Ha, ha!

Come on, I'm bored. Post something so I have something to do besides calculate rate and efficiency variances. Just typing that was boring.
