Mommy Knows Nothing

I'm no expert. Just trying to do better today than I did yesterday.

So, it was Easter weekend. Kooy had a total of 3 easter egg hunts and after the first one, I was starting to worry whether or not he "got it." My wonderful friend and neighbor had a great idea to do a Neighborhood Egg Hunt. (Love you Rachel!)Kind of like a substitute for all those community Egg Hunts, that I have never been too, but have heard from EVERYONE, that they are just horrible. We hid plastic eggs and for the itty bitty's we also just threw wrapped candy on the grass. Well, Kooy found his first piece of candy and was all done hunting. He sat down and started eating.

Needless to say we did not end up with very many eggs or candy. I am assuming he took a couple of days and pondered those events in his mind and came to the conclusion that he could do better. Because Easter morning he "got it." The Easter Bunny hid 18 eggs. He found all of them, except for one which we think got eaten by an animal. We only found egg shells. Then, by that afternoon, when we had ANOTHER egg hunt, he was practically running all over to pick up the eggs. It was super cute, if I do say so myself. We invited Matt's family over to celebrate. I think they all had fun. Every year we have a pinata. (No we are not Mexican.) One year my niece asked Grandma if we could have one for Easter. I think the story goes that she had one in Kindergarten and really loved it and wanted another one. That was like 6 years ago, and we've had one ever since. I love how Kooy's eyes are closed on this one. I think I may need Matt to have a little talk with him before we start little league. ;)

So, anyway, I am trying to be witty and interesting and I think my heart just isn't in it tonight.
Anyway, So my nephew, Gatlin, who is Trent, my bro's, oldest son, forgot to bring his sunday clothes to his dad's house this weekend. (Trent lives with us by the way) So fifteen minutes before church they realize this and have to run to the store. I had bought Kooy a new shirt for Easter. I almost didn't because he didn't really need another shirt but it seems like it's tradition to get new sunday clothes at Easter so I folded. It was on clearance too. So how could I resist. Well, without even planning it, Kooy and Gatlin both had on sage green shirts, brand new for Easter. They both looked so handsome. I remember my mom taking pictures of us kids in our Easter clothes. So I guess for that reason I feel like I needed to take one too.

All in all, it was a great day. And can you believe the weather! It was just perfect. Oooookay. Now I know this post is getting too long and boring. I just referenced the weather.

Hmm pinata! That sounds like fun. Kooy looks so cute!

We had an Easter egg hunt with friends but they didn't want to hide candy because they didn't want their kids having loads of it and getting cavities and on and on. So, we hid eggs with nickels and dimes and quarters. So basically, they were just in it for the hunt. I took all the change out of the eggs the kids found so that Sarah wouldn't try to eat it all. We'll probably do things a little differently next year - but still they had a blast and it was fun!

Hey Lisa, thanks for reminding me that you have a blog. I wondered if you got together with the Curtis's at your house. I remember last year what a great time we had at your house for the big hunt. Thanks for the cute picture of my oldest and youngest grandsons. Love those shirts.
